This year again you can enjoy the new track of K3 ULTRA’s shortest distance - GBR 23K.
It is suitable for the ones who are fresh in discovering the charm of mountain running or for those experienced ones who, after a hard summer season, have decided to wind down in the heart of the beautiful Middle Rhodopes.
The runners in this distance start from the centre of Zlatograd westwards, cross the emblematic area Bucheto and head directly for the Bulgarian-Greek border, reaching it as early as the 4th kilometre from the start.
Running along the Golden border!
Along the borderline itself, they reach the monument of Momchil - the Rhodopean king , pass the border post and arrive at the chapel ‘St St Konstantin and Elena’, where an aid station will be awaiting them with a large variety of Rhodopean specialties.
From the chapel the runners continue along the borderline through picturesque paths and meadows above the beautiful Zlatograd dam. They cross the Varbitsa river and at the Mostcheto aid station can help themselves to refreshments and food before ascending to the historical area Kosora. From there onwards, together with the runners in GBR 63К and GBR 43К they go down to the chapel ‘St Ekaterina’, from where there are only three kilometres, common to all distances.
